Years ago I read about Loren Cunningham, founder of YWAM, who asked a group of college students, “How many of you believe that God answers prayers?” Everyone enthusiastically raised their hands. “How many of you believe that God still performs miracles?” Everyone enthusiastically raised their hands. “How many of you believe this for you?” Only a few raised their hands.
I find that sometimes that is true for me too. I believe God is faithful. I believe he hears me and answers my prayers. And yet, when troubles come, and he said they would, my heart falters.
Funny, well not really, but it’s “Heart of Trust” month, and I find myself fighting worry! The stories this month are of people of great faith in a huge God who answers big prayers. I said to the Father, “Why do I worry? How can I trust you, and really believe in who you are, and yet, fight worry and a big lump in my stomach?”
The good news is that now, after years of walking with the Father, I have what I call “stepping stones of faith.” I have experienced the love, presence and answers of a living, loving God. Each time my life intersects with him through experience, one more “stepping stone of faith” is set in place for me and my adventure with God.
He allows situations where I get to experience his faithfulness and practice lessons he taught me years ago - like forgiveness and kindness (when the opposite is given) or trust and faith (that He will provide).
My encouragement to you is that great stories of faith can be yours too. Will you join me in praying that each of us will grow a larger “heart of trust” as we see God work in and around us? My prayer for you is that your life will intersect with the living God, and that one more stepping stone of faith will be added to your own personal journey with the Father.
Praying God-Sized, Faith-Building Blessings!
