I love seeing great art. With the world’s connectivity, it is available 24/7. Talented musicians. Super athletes. Graceful dancers. Fabulous singers. Over-the-top chefs. Gifted artists.
Recently, our family sat around the dinner table talking about great artists, and the conversation shifted to our opportunity to share our own unique brand of art with the world. Even though we are not all public or professional artists, we all have the opportunity to create art with our lives.
One by one, we went around the dinner table and told each person what “art” we saw in their life. For one, it was the discipline and work ethic that was created out a difficult and hard life. For another, it was the ability to coach, correct and encourage all at the same time. For another, it was intellect and wisdom that was given freely to help others. For yet another, it was the ability to reach out to the lonely and invite them into a circle of friends. Each person at the table had their own unique art form, and they shared it in a way that encouraged others and made life more beautiful.
There is art in every life. Take time to celebrate the beauty and art within each person in your home.
Express your love and appreciation for each family member and guest by letting them know the beauty and art that you see in their life. This Valentine’s week, plan a special meal with your family, and make space for each person to share around the table what art and beauty they see in each person’s life. Think about answering these questions for each person around the table.
- What art do you see in his/her life?
- How does he/she share this art to love and encourage others?
- What are some new ways this person could use their God-given art to love and encourage others this week and year?
